1. How did you get your start in design?
From childhood, I have always carefully observed my surroundings, imagined fantastical settings, and curated exquisite outcomes which were honed through years of theatrical set and lighting design. I have also spent years exploring at swap meets, antique shops and art galleries.
2. Where do you draw inspiration from?
I appreciate nature and am an avid home gardener. As nature always changes, I believe interiors should similarly evolve. I draw inspiration from historical architecture, perusing vintage bookstores, and traveling the world.
3. Tell us about one of your favorite projects and what made it so special.
I worked closely with a family designing their dream home in Los Angeles. We created rooms and interiors that told stories influenced by their travels. Custom designed furnishings, European textiles, and hand-painted walls were just a few details out of several that made the project special.
4. What are you working on for this year’s Pasadena Showcase House?
We were selected to design the upper hallway and linen closet at the Boddy House. All the furnishings are custom designed by our Atelier. The design was inspired by the surrounding gardens and the southern California landscape.
5. Who is your dream celebrity client and what would you create for them?
My dream celebrity would be someone who is creative, active in the community and who appreciates excellence in design. My dream design flows from an elegant interior to an outdoor garden space, as we live in sunny California. I would incorporate a curated collection of fine art, sculpture and custom furniture handcrafted crafted by local artisans.
6. Describe your dream vacation.
My dream vacation would be traveling throughout cities and countrysides of Europe. On the list of must-see sights would be renaissance gardens of Italy, cooking classes from locals, and visiting world-class museums. I could spend hours gazing at the silver and royal place setting collection of Vienna’s Hofburg Imperial Palace finding inspiration for my next dinner party!
