  1. How has your business changed over the decade? Since our foundation in 2009, flexibility has been crucial to our success as Avenue Interior Design. Our original business model was firmly rooted in hospitality based interior design services in a traditional service focused format. Quickly we realized the need to cater to a residential market that we hadn’t anticipated. Within months we had developed one of the first online design-in-a-box, interior design concepts, I Heart Design, to cater to this new clientele. The concept allowed us to work with residential clients on a room-by-room basis anywhere in the country. While successful, ultimately the demand for our hospitality work required us to put I Heart Design on the back burner.

2. How has technology changed your business? Technology evolves so quickly and is one of the biggest factors our clients take into consideration at every property they develop. Like most industries, there has been a big evolution in the hospitality industry. A lot of tech related concepts that included interactive focal features or in-room technology are already predictable and obsolete. Today the demand is that technology be seamlessly integrated, reliable and effortless.

3. What has been your greatest achievement to date? We consider every successful opening an achievement! One that is the direct result of a compelling narrative, endless coordination and hours of dedication from each member of our team. The icing on the cake has been celebrating our 10 year anniversary this year. Working on high profile projects for industry newcomers and heavy hitters alike has been a dream, but creating a collaborative workplace that we enjoy being a part of every day is the true accomplishment.

4. What  is your favorite project and why? It’s impossible to pick a single favorite scope since our project mix has been so diverse. Whenever we begin concepting a new project, it quickly becomes our favorite. We fall back in love once we start seeing it come to fruition and once it’s installed, we’re head over heels.
