RISE: A Night of Resilience and Reflection for the LA Design Community

Author:

The Pacific Design Center and Women in Luxury Design hosted a night of connection for the Southern California design community to come together at the Pacific Design Center to support and uplift one another as Los Angeles navigates these challenging times. In the wake of the devastating fires, many in the community have lost everything—yet the City’s resilience and compassion continues to shine.

CEO of Women in Luxury Design, Jennifer Convy, led a powerful conversation with Tammy Randall Wood—a designer who has personally endured multiple wildfires—on how she is now guiding her clients through their own recovery. Renowned designer Adam Hunter, founder of LA CAN DO, Jack Inman of Palecek and California Home+Design editor Lindsey Shook, then followed to share more on their combined efforts in partnership with House of Honey to provide donated furniture and home goods to many families who have been displaced by the fires. In a remarkable act of support, Palecek shared more about the two, 53-foot trailer trucks of furniture they donated to the effort in order to help families refurnish their new homes. Jobi Blachy, owner of Quintus, then shared information about a Go Fund Me he organized which has raised nearly $70,000 for those in the design community who have been directly impacted.

Following the program, guests gathered at David Sutherland for a beautiful reception, enjoying delicious bites from The Butcher’s Daughter alongside bubbles and wine courtesy of Cambria and Snyder Diamond. Against this warm and welcoming backdrop, the evening continued with heartfelt conversations, shared stories of perseverance, and a renewed sense of hope. Thank you to Maria Hughes and the Pacific Design Center team for hosting this important conversation.
