“I’VE ALWAYS THOUGHT about this as a resource for people who are passionate about design,” says Kathryn M. Ireland on her latest endeavor, the Perfect Room, a new e-commerce portal for high-end design. Sites like Dering Hall, Decaso and 1stdibs have shown the community that custom, luxury pieces can be seamlessly sourced online. Ireland, however, is taking the concept a step further by allowing users to see the products in a highly curated environment.
The shoppable rooms designed by some of the industry’s most acclaimed designers including Jeffrey Alan Marks, Martyn Lawrence Bullard and of course Ireland, feature various commerce offerings: purchase the entire room, buy the essentials or simply take home the accessories. This innovative platform not only helps the consumer envision how to design a room but also gives designers a powerful channel to sell products and procure potential clients. “We all feel that any platform that increases awareness of the design world and brings the consumer a new way of shopping is a win-win for all,” notes Ireland.
