If you love mid-century design and Valentine’s Day, you have a lot to celebrate this year at the 2020 Modernism Week. Now in it’s 15th year, the annual design week kicks off on February 13th at the opening night party themed: Space Modyssey. Daytime activities range from exclusive home tours, in-depth keynotes and of course shopping for rare mid-century finds. Here are just a few key happenings we are looking forward to, and think you should too.

-THE GUGGENHEIM HOUSE TOUR

Head to Indian Canyons to take in the seamless blend of contemporary furnishings and vintage pieces on display at the “Guggenheim House” by noted designer Michael Ostrow of Grace Home Furnishings. Purchase tickets here.

-MISSION TO PRESERVE

Palo Alto realtor Monique Lombardelli is on a mission to preserve historic homes by developer Joseph Eicher and other modernist architects, which she considers to be “endangered species”. Her most recent endeavor is selling original Eichler floor plans, bringing these legendary properties back to life as newly built homes. During Modernism Week 2020 in Palm Desert, February 15, the latest newly built Eichler, a 4-bed Claude Oakland model, is featured exclusively in a house tour, sponsored by developer KUD Properties.

-ESHERICK’S MCINTYRE HOUSE: CONTINUED RELEVANCE FOR 55 YEARS

Register now for a very special discussion between architect Richard Beard and interior designer Paul Wiseman. The two design icons will talk about their collaboration in reviving Joseph Esherick’s 1961 mid-century masterpiece, the McIntyre House, and the importance of this structure for future generations.
