Designer Crush: Space 10 Interiors

The San Francisco based design firm prides themselves on creating spaces that help its inhabitants form a deeper connection inside by focusing on how their clients use their homes. Here Glynn shares how the firm got started and how they are staying inspired.
1. How did you get your start in design? In my previous career I traveled frequently for work and always found myself spending any spare moment going to galleries, museums, and home design shops. When my husband decided to go back to business school after we got married, I all of a sudden had a lot of extra time on my hands. So I decided to fill my time by taking an interior design course. I was hooked immediately. It took me a long time to get certified and once I did that was it. I decided to change careers.
2. How did you two meet and decide to collaborate? Barbara and I met at design school volunteering for the student design club. We hit it off straight away. We both have the same goals when it comes to the business but have different skill sets which is what makes us a good team.
3. What can you tell us about the project for Ric Bucher in Half Moon Bay? I met Ric’s wife, Corrine through a mutual friend and we got along famously. We first designed their individual offices as they both work from home and then a year later came back to reimagine the rest of the first floor. Corrine and Ric love living by the water in Half Moon Bay and take advantage of the great surfing and outdoor activities with their two teenage kids. It was important to them to incorporate as many hand-crafted elements into the design as possible. Natural materials that would patina overtime is something they love. Almost everything in their design is a reflection of that ethos.
4. Who are some of the artisans and furnishing brands you love to work with and why? We love working and supporting California based artists and makers. I am originally from Southern California so I enjoy showcasing Los Angeles unique makers. Lawson Fenning for furniture, Victoria Morris, Heather Rosenman and Heather Levine for ceramicist and PurePhoto for exciting new photographers. Our bay area favorites include The Future Perfect and March on Sacramento Street and Carter & Co in St Helena for unique local pottery.
5. Who are some of your biggest professional role models and why? When you get into this industry you realize how important how your showroom relationships are to the success of your business. We love the SFDC and all of the super talented people who contribute to our industry’s ecosystem. Our firm would not be where we are today without all of their knowledge and expertise.
6. Describe your ideal Sunday, a.m.
Sleep in until 7am. I am an early bird.
Pilates at 8am
Brunch at 11am
Beach adventure with our dog, Ramsey mid day
Nap or gardening it’s a toss up
Dinner with friends in our newly renovated backyard sitting in our Galenter and Jones heated chairs. 🙂

8. First celebrity crush? Ummm I have no idea. Can I have another question?
9. Current musical obsession? Any music on Insight Timer but mostly I have a rotation of podcasts going on in the background. The Daily for news, Bucher and Friends for sports and recently I have been crushing on Office Ladies for laughs.
10. Most binge-worthy Netflix show? I just finished reading Margaret Attwood’s The Testaments and I am late to this show but I am OBSESSED with Handmaid’s Tale.
