Get Ready for the 2026 San Francisco Design Week

Author:

What began twenty years ago as a simple, local gathering—has now become the impressive, two-week-long San Francisco Design Week (SFDW)—where design and technology meet. Starting June 1, the organization celebrates their 20 year anniversary by promoting a fresh identity, renewed energy and a theme that couldn’t be more timely: Plurality.

Dawn Zidonis, co-founder of Design Bay Area

Under the direction of Dawn Zidonis, co-founder of Design Bay Area and one of the driving forces behind the Bay Area’s creative resurgence, the 2026 edition asks what it means to design for many—diversity and community. “Twenty years ago, San Francisco Design Week began as a celebration of the Bay Area’s creative spirit and the power of many,” says Zidonis. “Today, it stands as a reminder that design still has the power to connect communities, spark innovation, and shape the future. As we celebrate this milestone, we’re also looking ahead—because the future started here.”
